SUMMER HOLIDAYS 18-31st July!

Anti-condensation insulation for round ducts

Anti-condensation insulation is an essential part of a ventilation system, designed to protect ducts from condensation and provide additional thermal insulation. It is especially important to insulate air supply ducts that run through cold zones (e.g., an unheated attic) to prevent moisture buildup and heat loss. REC BalticVent offers easy-to-use, sleeve-type insulation for round ducts.

How to Choose the Right Anti-Condensation Insulation?

When cold air travels through a duct in a warmer environment (or vice versa), condensation can form on the outer surface of the duct. This not only spoils the aesthetic appearance but can also cause moisture damage to the building's structures. Anti-condensation insulation, also known as an "insulation sleeve" or "sock," is a simple and effective solution to prevent this problem. It also performs a thermal insulation function, helping to maintain a stable temperature of the transported air.

Main Features of the Insulation

In our assortment, you will find sleeve-type insulation characterized by the following features:

  • Simple Installation: The insulation is delivered in a roll. It simply needs to be unrolled and slipped over the round duct like a sleeve ("sock"). At the joints, the insulation is overlapped and securely sealed with adhesive tape.
  • Effective Insulation: The inner layer is made of mineral wool, which has good thermal insulation properties. Depending on the model, the insulation thickness can be 25 mm, 30 mm, or 50 mm.
  • Durable Outer Jacket: The outer layer protects the insulation from damage and acts as a vapour barrier. We offer two types of jackets:
    • Aluminium cover: Features greater rigidity and durability.
    • Polyethene (PE) cover: A flexible and diffusion-tight layer that effectively prevents moisture from penetrating the insulation.

What to Consider When Choosing?

  • Insulation Thickness: Choose the thickness (25, 30, or 50 mm) based on the temperature difference between the inside of the duct and the surrounding environment. The greater the difference, the thicker the insulation is recommended.
  • Duct Diameter: Make sure the selected insulation matches the diameter of the round ducts you are using.
  • Outer Jacket: Choose the jacket type (aluminium or polyethene) based on the installation environment and requirements.
  • Accessories: Don't forget to purchase special aluminium or PVC adhesive tape for securely sealing the insulation joints.

Properly selected and installed anti-condensation insulation is an important investment in the longevity and efficiency of your ventilation system. It protects against potential moisture damage and helps save energy. We invite you to explore our assortment and, if you have any questions, contact our specialists.
