Vermikulit

Thermal Insulation Of Flue Inserts

Thermal Insulation

Composition:
Vermiculite is a very lightweight material, belonging to the hydro-mica group of minerals. It is obtained from mica, which is crushed and heated to high temperatures, expanding its volume by 15 to 20 times. It is loose, porous, lightweight, and durable. Vermiculite is fire-resistant (melting point 1350°C), with an operating temperature range from -260°C to +1200°C. It has excellent thermal and sound insulation properties, and superb absorption capabilities, absorbing water up to 500% of its own weight, yet it is hygroscopic, meaning it weakly absorbs moisture from the air. It is resistant to microorganisms, does not rot, and does not attract insects or rodents.

Chemical Properties:
Vermiculite is neutral to the effects of alkalis and acids, is environmentally clean and sterile, non-toxic, and does not contain heavy metals.

Particle Sizes:

  • Diameter (mm): 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 125

Applications

Construction:
Vermiculite is used for chimney liner insulation to improve draft, significantly reducing the accumulation of tar and soot. It is also used for the thermal insulation of walls, roofs, floors, foundations, attics, ceilings, and basements. Vermiculite boards are used for insulating fireplace inserts, and due to its good sound insulation properties, it is used in residential and industrial buildings, cinemas, and specialized laboratories. It is also a component in construction mixtures.

Fire Protection:
Provides up to 10 hours of protection for metal and wooden objects from potential ignition and protects masonry chimneys from deteriorating if the liner catches fire.

Food Industry:
Used for insulating refrigeration chambers, thermos insulation, and water filtration.

Chemical Industry and Ecology:
Serves as an absorbent for cleaning up chemical spills, collecting leaked fluids, purifying water sources, and collecting spilled oil products from hard surfaces.
